Kara’s Story

How do our patterns, our individual stories, our backgrounds shape the people we become?

I speak often in classes about growing from our roots. How do our patterns, our individual stories, our backgrounds shape the people we become? For my own story, my relationship with movement is exactly what brought me here today.

I am a classically trained ballet dancer with over 18 years of experience embedded within my body. Whether at Boston Ballet or Texas Christian University, my adolescence was filled with the dream of becoming a professional ballet dancer.

Ballet taught me how to be graceful, poised, confident, and determined; traits I am undoubtedly proud of.

Ballet also taught me how to feel anxious, how to ignore my body’s signals, how to strive for impossible and unrealistic perfection.

I fear that in my quest to become ethereal, I lost my ability to be human. It took years of breaking down emotional and physical patterns for me to accept movement for what it truly is…

Nourishment.

My life is now filled with supported movement via Range, outdoor activities, and all of the human activities life throws at us.

When I am not teaching on Range, I love to take long daily walks, take care of my puppy Irish setter, hike, ski and snowshoe (in season).

I love to celebrate my body for what it can do opposed to what I think it should. You will quickly find that my teaching philosophy is the complete embodiment of this.

I am so thrilled that many of you have felt that internal shift within yourselves as well.

Where you can find me now.

I currently live in Woodstock, Vermont with my partner Ben and our Irish Setter River.

Beyond movement, I have a passion for sustainable fashion, art and interior design.

Both Ben and I love to cook, go out to our favorite local restaurants, travel, hike, spend time with our growing families, and love all things the state of Vermont.

With love,
