About Kara Duval
A ballet dancer her whole life, Kara started her training at the Boston Ballet School and danced her way to the most advanced level of its Intensive program. In 2010, Kara traveled to Texas to begin working towards her BFA in Classical Ballet at Texas Christian University. She was a four-year Nordan Scholarship recipient for excellence in dance. In addition to ballet, Kara was also a marketing minor and completed an internship with the marketing team of Harrod's of London. While at TCU, she made lifelong connections as a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma.
Kara was exposed to Pilates at the age of 12 at the Boston Ballet School and quickly realized that incorporating Pilates into her ballet schedule was crucial for keeping her body healthy, strong, and flexible. While at TCU, Pilates was a part of the dance curriculum, which is where her interest in becoming an instructor really sparked.
In addition to teaching Pilates, Kara teaches her own format of “barre-less Barre” which marries the principles of Pilates, strength training and functional movement. In her spare time, she enjoys trying new fitness classes, exploring Boston restaurants, traveling to new destinations, visiting her parents in Vermont and being outdoors.
